Basanti Baroova is a veteran nutritionist and educator. She has over 40 years of professional experience in nutrition education and implementing public sector projects.
She has vast experience of working with Government bodies at the state and central level including Ministry of Social Welfare, Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR), Indian Council of Agriculture Research (ICAR), Department of Agriculture, and several state governments, private sector entities and multilateral agencies (including UNICEF, Save the Children and VHAI).
Basanti specializes in planning and managing medium to large public sector projects involving development of research tools and methodologies, stakeholder analysis, complex data collection, Policy recommendation and Impact Assessment. Over the tenure of her professional experience, Basanti has undertaken multiple projects across various nutrition policy, traditional food knowledge and state nutritional profiling.
She is the formulator of Assam Mix, a commercial weaning mix made from locally available foods of Assam. This product is extensively used by organizations like Save the Children, World Vision, Oxfam and Mission Smile for deployment in nutrition related programs across the country.
Basanti has authored several books on Diet and disease management. She is a member of multiple national level institutions, and policy making and administrative bodies.
